Dos Gabachos Tepextate Mezcal
If there’s an OG of mezcal, it’s agave Tepextate. Wildly cultivated on the rocky mountainsides of Ejutla, south of Oaxaca City, this rare and slow-growing agave takes at least 15 years to mature. Known for its labor-intensive harvest, the piñas are carried by hand and mule over long distances before being cooked in an underground pit for three days. Distilled once by Maestro Mezcalero Eugenio Lopez Garcia using a “refrescadera,” this technique retains the wild essence of the plant. With an aromatic nose and a balanced palate that melds natural sweetness with oak root flavors, Dos Gabachos Tepextate is a true sipping experience. Enjoy it neat or with a single ice cube for the full flavor.
